The first time I had mead (honey wine) was at someone’s house in New Hampshire and I’ve only heard mention of it a handful of times since then. Luckily, I got to try some mead while out in Columbus, Ohio, last month. The significant difference between the ones I’d had prior to the trip and the ones at The Brothers Drake was that these weren’t especially sweet. They typically had more fruity or floral notes than your traditional wine, but overall there was a lot of depth to them that made for a very unique tasting experience (which is also helped by the fact that the space doubles as an art gallery).

Disclaimer: This Silent Sunday is a part of a series of posts that I will be doing on restaurants, shops, distilleries and breweries in the Columbus, Ohio, area. I was recently invited to take part in an all-expense paid tour of the city that was organized by Experience Columbus and Columbus Food Adventures. The views on my blog are my own and in no way was I monetarily compensated for writing this entry.

Funny. I don’t remember anyplace like this when I lived in Ohio.
The photos here are beautiful! I need some wine now.
Looks very visit-able. Nice post!
I love discovering places like this. Where the heart of the purveyors are evident in everything they do. I’m finding a wealth of companies locally. Now I just need to find the time to visit them, sample their wares and tell their story; that’s the best part!
very cool. These pictures are incredible! I feel like i’m there
Love your photos. Wine one is my favorite of this post – looks like an amazing place.

Would absolutely love to try a less-sweet mead. I’ve only had it a couple times in my life, and am almost certain that it was pretty terrible quality. Gorgeous photos!
