{Silent Sunday: Scratch Baking}

I would never had heard about Scratch Baking, which is located in Milford, CT, if it weren’t for Chris Thornton from The Peche.  After hearing rave reviews from Chris, I looked up the location on Google.  Low and behold, it was right on the route that Eric and I take when we go to New Jersey to visit my family.  How convenient!

I’ve known about Scratch since earlier this year but we finally got around to visiting a few weeks ago.  And this place did not disappoint.  Charming decor, friendly service, and scrumptious desserts (some highlights were the chocolate eclair and the chocolate pudding) make this place a real find.  If you are ever in the neighborhood, this is a bakery you really won’t want to miss.

Lastly, I found out this week that I was nominated in the Best Photography category of the Foodbuzz Blog Awards.

At this point, anyone can vote, which is why I’m shamelessly promoting it here.  Voting is pretty simple and you don’t have to register with FoodBuzz to do it.

Just go to this link: http://www.foodbuzz.com/pages/awards

As always, I thank you for your love and support.

Not often I could say this about a place you’ve been to, but I’ve been to Milford CT!

My daughter taught at a private school there her first year out of college and I went up to visit as soon as she got out for summer break. There were so many charming little shops on what I guess is sort of a Milford main street…I don’t know if they were there but if they were…we might have visited Scratch Bakery even! Smallish world huh? Would love that eclair please?

This seems like the kind of adorable good-for-the-soul place that I could fall in love with. Pistachio shortbread? Count me in.

You’ve absolutely got my vote, Bryan! <3

The pictures are wonderful. I am always amazed at just what a picture can convey without any words or description added. Your pictures are worth far more than a thousand words. :-)

I have heard Chris and Karen talk all about Scratch Baking. Now, after seeing your glorious photos, I really need to get myself to CT for some sweets. Beautiful photos, as always, Brian. I always look forward to seeing your Silent Sunday posts (even if I get to them a few days late!).

SteveOctober 13, 2011 - 6:42 pm

I thought the best pastry/Bake shops were in Manhattan. Nothing comes close to the products at Scratch Baking. The cakes, breads, brownies and tarts are so delicious. Also the shop and staff make me want to return since they are as sweet and fresh as the products.

SteveOctober 13, 2011 - 6:50 pm

E mail address corrected. Heading to Scratch on Saturday need pastries to help enjoy the NFL.

Emilie BellOctober 24, 2011 - 9:55 pm

Oh goodness! This looks delightful! I can’t wait to jump in the car and head to CT to find this little gem!

The pictures are gorgeous as usual. No surprise that you were nominated for the Best Photography category! Congratulations!
